About Us
Speciality Coffee, freshly roasted in
Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk since 2015!
Welcome to Crude Coffee Roasters, where our passion for great coffee meets "crude" craftsmanship.
Based just outside the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, we’ve been committed to roasting exceptional speciality coffee since 2015.

Our Story...
Our coffee journey began with childhood friends Ben & Richard, whose combined experiences; from a former chef and recording engineer, to product development and business management, built Crude on a foundation of precision, creativity, and a DIY ethos that shines through in every cup.
We started humbly in 2015, after being inspired by Richard's travels across New Zealand, initially roasting under the name Frank & Earnest in a small garden shed outside of our cafe/recording studio.

As our passion and following grew, we moved into the former Brewshed brewery building in 2017, and then to a small warehouse in Moreton Hall in 2019.
By 2022, we had outgrown those spaces and moved into our current home in Fornham St Genevieve; a large warehouse designed to support our continued growth. Along with this move, we also upgraded our roasting capabilities, investing in a state-of-the-art 70kg Loring Smart Roaster, enabling us to craft even more exceptional coffee with much greater efficiency and sustainability.

Throughout our growth, we’ve built a small but dedicated team of coffee roasting professionals, each committed to delivering the finest coffee experience.
As we’ve expanded, we've remained firmly connected to our community, proudly supporting local businesses and coffee enthusiasts across the East of England & beyond.
At Crude, coffee is more than just a drink—it’s an experience. Our beans are sourced from sustainable farms around the world, roasted in small batches with care, and crafted to unlock the best flavours in every cup. Whether you’re a seasoned coffee connoisseur or just beginning your journey into speciality coffee, we’re here to guide you through a bold, authentic experience.

So why not try a bag or two of our coffee, and taste the journey we've been on—one extraordinary cup at a time.
